Amy Adams has snagged the role of Lois Lane in director Zack Snyder's "Superman" reboot, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures announced Sunday.
In a written statement, the director said, “Second only to Superman himself, the 
question of who will play Lois Lane is arguably what fans have been most curious about. So we are excited to announce the casting of Amy Adams, one of the most versatile and respected actresses in films today. Amy has the talent to capture all of the qualities we love about Lois: smart, tough, funny, warm, ambitious and, of course, beautiful.”
The Los Angeles Times reported that Snyder called Adams from Paris Sunday morning to tell her she was his choice for the gig. The director is in France promoting his new film, "Sucker Punch."

Henry Cavill plays the Man of Steel. Kevin Costner plays his adopted father, Jonathan Kent. Diane Lane is his adopted mother, Martha Kent.
The next coveted role to fill: the villain. Published reports have speculated that "Revolutionary Road's" Michael Shannon is under consideration. Last week, speculation turned toward Viggo Mortensen, who will not, as it turns out, star in Universal's "Snow White and the Huntsman."
Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder are the producers. The screenplay is being written by David S. Goyer based on a story by Goyer and Nolan. Thomas Tull and Lloyd Phillips are executive producers.
The still-untitled movie is scheduled to be released in December, 2012.
