Anchor Bay Picks Up ‘After.Life’

Psychological thriller starring Liam Neeson and Christina Ricci will hit theaters this spring

Anchor Bay Films has picked up "After.Life," starring Liam Neeson, Christina Ricci, Justin Long and Josh Charles, for theatrical distribution in the U.S. and the U.K. this spring.

Agnieszka Wojtowicz-Vosloo’s directorial debut is a psychological thriller about a young woman (Ricci) caught between life and death and a funeral director (Neeson) who appears to have the gift of transitioning the dead, but might just be intent on burying her alive.

Wojtowicz-Vosloo co-wrote the script with Paul Vosloo.

“’After.Life’ is a satisfying psychological thriller that is sure to please audiences, and we are thrilled to add it to our roster of films,” Anchor Bay Entertainment President Bill Clark said in a statement Wednesday announcing the acquisition.

Bill Perkins and Plum Pictures produced the film, with Perkins financing through his Lleju Productions banner. Brad Gilbert of Constellation Entertainment, Perkins, and Celine Rattray Pictures produced. Galt Niederhoffer and Pam Hirsch executive produced for Plum Pictures. Edwin Marshall and James Swisher executive produced for Harbor Light, and Cooper Richey executive produced for Lleju Productions.

Anchor Bay Films, a division of Anchor Bay Entertainment, has distribution operations in the U.K., Canada and Australia, as well as distribution capabilities in other key territories. The company focuses on a platform release strategy for its films with an eye toward maximizing their potential across all ancillary distribution platforms. Recent acquisitions include "Spread" starring Ashton Kutcher and Anne Heche, "The Open Road" starring Jeff Bridges and Justin Timberlake, "City Island" with Andy Garcia and Julianna Margulies and "Broken Lizard’s The Slammin’ Salmon" starring Michael Clarke Duncan.
