Anderson Cooper, Kathy Griffin to Return for CNN’s ‘New Year’s Eve Live’

Trainwreck-prone duo heads back to Times Square to anchor network’s coverage

When it comes to New Year’s Eve, CNN loves a good trainwreck.

Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin are once again ringing in the New Year for CNN live, the network announced on Tuesday.

Cooper and Griffin will return to Times Square to co-host CNN's coverage of “New Year's Eve Live” on Friday, Dec. 31, from 11 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. (ET) on Saturday, Jan. 1.

"Once again, I'm terrified to be co-hosting CNN's New Year’s Eve show with Kathy Griffin," Cooper said in a statement. "It’s often bitterly cold, and yet after being with her for a few minutes on live television, I find myself drenched in sweat."

He’s only half-joking.

In 2008, Griffin responded to a Times Square heckler as she was throwing to a commercial, proclaiming, "I don't go to your job and knock the d—s out of your mouth."

Last year, Griffin dropped an F-bomb live on air while discussing the Falcon “Balloon Boy” Heene incident with Cooper: "Wait … Falcon? F—in'? Falcon? How do you say it?"

Leading up to Cooper and Griffin’s show will be "Anderson Cooper 360’s All the Best, All the Worst 2010," which will air at 8:00 p.m. (ET) and again at 10. A special edition of Larry King Live will air at 9:00 p.m. ET.

Meanwhile, Fox News will present a special New Year’s Eve program, “All American New Year,” with co-hosts Megyn Kelly and Bill Hemmer ringing in the New Year live from Times Square during the same 90-minute block as Cooper and Griffin.
