Angela Galgani Elevated to Senior VP of Publicity at Sony Pictures Worldwide

Galgani will run Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing & Distribution’s publicity office in New York

Angela Galgani has been elevated to senior vice president of publicity for Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing & Distribution, the studio announced Tuesday.

Galgani — who joined the studio as an intern in May 1997 — will run its publicity office in New York. The office was previously operated by Gigi Semone, who left the studio in September.

Galgani will also develop East Coast-based PR campaigns for all Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation releases, including "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," "21 Jump Street," "Men in Black 3" and "The Amazing Spider-Man."

“I’ve known Angela since she started here as an intern and I’ve been fortunate to watch her develop her skills and grow into a respected publicist and executive," Executive Vice President of Motion Picture Publicity Andre Caraco said in a statement. "Not only am I proud to recognize her success with this well-deserved promotion, but I’m glad that we will continue to be working together every day, shaping the publicity strategies for our film releases.”

Galgani has previously worked on publicity campaigns for the three "Spider-Man" films, as well as "The Social Network," "Big Fish," "The Smurfs," "District 9," "The Da Vinci Code," "Stuart Little," "2012," "Charlie’s Angels," "Ali," "Moneyball," "Salt" and "Super Bad."

After her stint as an intern, Galgani joined the studio full-time as an assistant. She later served as manager, director, executive director and vice president of publicity.
