Anna Duggar Breaks Silence on Josh’s ‘Betrayal’: ‘My Only Hope Was to Cling to My Faith’ (Video)

“So not only was it a betrayal against me but it was also a betrayal for those who call themselves Christians,” Anna says in new clip from TLC special “Jill and Jessa: Counting On”

Anna Duggar opens up about the various scandals plaguing her husband, disgraced “19 Kids and Counting” star Josh Duggar, in a new clip from “Jill and Jessa: Counting On.”

“I think it is such a betrayal for a spouse to go through what we’re working through,” Anna says in the clip. “It was hard to realize that it was such a public thing. So not only was it a betrayal against me but it was also a betrayal for those who call themselves Christians.”

Anna and Josh were married in another TLC special in 2009 called “A Very Duggar Wedding.” But earlier this year, the family was torn apart when it came to light that Josh had molested several young girls, including his own sisters, when he was a teenager.

In addition, Josh’s name was found in hacked data from the website Ashley Madison, which is a dating site specifically for men looking to have extra-martial affairs.

“How could this happen in our marriage?” Anna says. “Josh is my first love. He’s my one and only. But I knew that my only hope was to cling to my faith.”

In this week’s episode of “Jill and Jessa,” the family throws Jessa and Ben a baby shower complete with games for the men and the women. After the celebrations, Jill, Derick and Israel have a tearful goodbye before traveling to Central America to begin their missionary work.

The next installment of “Jill and Jessa: Counting On” will air Dec. 20 at 9 p.m./8c.
