Anna Kendrick Ponders Her Beer Commercial Hotness for Super Bowl Beer Commercial (Video)

The “Pitch Perfect” star takes audiences behind the scenes of ad she almost starred in

Anna Kendrick never thought she’d be considered “hot” enough to star in a beer commercial, but explains in a New Castle Brown Ale Super Bowl commercial that she almost was.

If only New Castle had enough money to make a Super Bowl commercial.

“I was really excited to make a Super Bowl commercial with New Castle, but it turns out they don’t even have the money or permission to make a Super Bowl commercial,” Kendrick says in ad (above) disguised as a “behind the scenes” clip. “I was surprised that I even got offered the part, because I don’t think of myself as, like, ‘beer commercial babe hot,’ ya know?” I mean, I’m hot. But, like, approachable hot — like the hottest girl in your improv class hot.”

The Oscar-nominated actress is part of beer company’s creative game day advertising campaign, which insists New Castle “couldn’t afford” to actually make a game day commercial. So instead it is promoting Kendrick as the “mega huge celebrity who almost starred” in the “Mega Huge Football Ad Newcastle Brown Al almost made.”

Still, another commercial, promising to be the ad the company “could have made,” is on the way. Whether or not the commercial will air during Super Bowl XLVIII is “Up in the Air,” however, as it’s not clear whether this is all an elaborate teaser for an actual TV spot, or just an attempt to go viral online so the company can avoid paying roughly $4 million per 30 seconds of air time on Fox.

Here’s New Castle’s “official stock footage trailer” for the company’s “Mega Huge Football Game Day Ad” that the company says it didn’t actually make:
