In case there was any doubt, it seems unlikely that Ariel Winter and her mother will be making nice anytime soon.

Days after Winter’s mother, Chrystal Workman, told In Touch that the “Modern Family” star needs to “grow up,” Winter’s sister Shanelle Gray told Page Six that Winter has “no interest in our birth mother.”

“It’s just the expectation,” Gray said of Workman’s In Touch interview. “My mother has always been dreaming of the spotlight, which is why she had two daughters … I think this is her way of keeping her name in the headlines.”

Winter and Gray have a famously chilly relationship with Workman. Following accusations that Workman had been physically and emotionally abusive, Gray was awarded guardianship of Winter. In 2015 Winter, now 19, announced that she was officially emancipated.

In her In Touch interview, Workman opined of Winter, “She needs to grow up. I would tell her to dress properly, be the beautiful person she is. I feel sad that she feels the need to expose herself when it’s not necessary. “Ariel is smart, beautiful and talented. She is a legitimate actress. She does not need to do this. She is beautiful with her clothes on.”

The comments drew a sharp Twitter response from Winter.

“What’s sad is that you lie consistently. Also, why is it that you only choose to talk to me through the press? I’m doing just fine,” Winter seethed via the social media platform Wednesday afternoon. The message was punctuated with a graphic of the “no” symbol followed by the word “Toxic.”
