Chuck Parker was elected to replace Scott Roth as executive director of the Art Directors Guild in a surprise upset Wednesday night.

The production designer for “90210,” “Under the Dome” and “Monk” beat out the 18-year incumbent in the special election ordered by the U.S. Department of Labor. Parker won the vote 547 to 322.

“Eighteen years is enough,” Parker said in a campaign statement. “We need a change in leadership style and all the fear-mongering in the world won’t change that. What we’re missing is a clear vision and an individual who wants to move this union into the 21st Century and keep our members competitive in what is now a global market.”

ADG Business Representative dooner (yes, that’s a name) was elected to replace current Associate Executive Director Bill Thomas. Also up for election were Board membership seats representing the four crafts councils.

Representing the Art Directors Craft in the election were Jack Taylor, Jr., Marcia Hinds, Mimi Gramatky and Thomas Taylor; Scenic Title and Graphic Artists Craft were Alan Kobayashi, Ellen King, Eric Rosenberg and John Moffitt. The Set Designers, Model Makers Craft were represented on the Board by Kristen Davis and Rick Nichol. Joseph Musso and Tim Wilcox ran unopposed as Board members representing the Illustrators and Matte Artists Craft.

The four current officers of the Guild — President Nelson Coates, Vice President Patrick DeGreve, Secretary Thomas Wilkins and Treasuer Oana Bogdan — did not stand for election.
