Three studios are lining up sequels to their successful films, according to Variety.

Universal Pictures is working on a fifth installment of "Fast and Furious," currently being referred to as "Fast Five," and has closed deals with Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, director Justin Lin and producer Neal H. Moritz to return to the franchise.

Chris Morgan is writing "Fast Five," the third time he and Lin have teamed for a "Fast and Furious" film. Production is expected to begin later this year for a 2011 release.

Disney, meanwhile, hopes to recapture the magic with a sequel to "Enchanted," hiring Jessie Nelson to pen a script for the live-action fairy tale.

Anne Fletcher ("The Proposal") is attached to direct, and Barry Josephson and Barry Sonnenfeld will return as producers.

The 2007 “Enchanted” earned more than $340 million worldwide, $123 million domestically.

And over at Columbia Pictures, the studio is moving forward with "The Lost Symbol," the third pic in the "Da Vinci Code" franchise, with British scribe Steven Knight set to adapt Dan Brown's best-selling thriller of the same name.

"Lost Symbol" finds Robert Langdon summoned to Washington, D.C., where he begins decoding the symbols of the Freemasons.

Tom Hanks, who played Langdon in "The Da Vinci Code" and "Angels and Demons," has not yet committed to reprise the role, though he is expected to. Imagine topper Brian Grazer and John Calley have signed on to produce the latest installment.
