Aubrey Plaza Rises from the Dead in First ‘Life After Beth’ Trailer (Video)

Her parents, played by Molly Shannon and John C. Reilly, resurrect her

Aubrey Plaza comes back from the dead, and her voracious make-out session with Dane DeHaan triggers some deeper urges in the first trailer released for A24’s zombie comedy, “Life After Beth.”

DeHaan’s Zach is distraught when his girlfriend Beth (Plaza) dies, but things may be looking up when he discovers that her parents (Molly Shannon and John C. Reilly) have found a way to resurrect her, which is a miracle (it’s from the Old Testament). At first they just pick things up where they left off, frolicking through sunlit meadows and serenades by bonfire, but soon it becomes inevitable that Beth is different now.

“What do you want from me? I’m a zombie!” Beth snarls when Zach helpfully points out that she just ate a guy in a fit of hunger. “Zombies eat guys!” Zach soon finds himself wishing she’d just stay dead, especially when Anna Kendrick‘s Erica starts coming around with comforting words.

The supporting cast also includes Matthew Gray Gubler, Cheryl Hines, and Paul Reiser. A24 will release “Life After Beth” on Aug. 15th.
