Young pop stars will perform songs from their upcoming albums
MTV's lining up the music acts for its big the 2013 VMAs. The network announced Thursday that the pre-show will feature live performances from YouTube sensation Austin Mahone and Nickelodeon actress Ariana Grande, who the network calls the "new faces of pop."
"I am so excited to be a part of this year's VMAs," said the 17-year-old Mahone, who is also nominated for an "Artist to Watch" moonman. "To be nominated for the first time this year was amazing enough, but to now actually be performing for the VMAs, it's literally a dream come true."
Grande, 20, said "Having grown up watching the VMAs, it's a surreal thrill to be performing on the stage. I can't wait."
They'll both perform songs of their upcoming albums. In Mahone's case, that album will be his first, so it's quite the auspicious debut for him.
The awards will be held in Brooklyn's new Barclays Center arena on August 25.
