Want to Be in ‘The Avengers’? Head to Santa Fe Now!

Joss Whedon’s summer superhero film, starring Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Samuel Jackson and more, will shoot in New Mexico and is holding an open casting on Feb. 16

It's Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, the Incredible Hulk, the Black Widow and…you.

Marvel is holding an open casting for Joss Whedon's May, 2012, superhero film "The Avengers" in Santa Fe, N.M., on Feb. 16.

The coming crown jewel in Marvel's ever expanding superhero franchise stars Robert Downey Jr., (Iron Man) Chris Evans (Captain America), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Chris Hernsworth (Thor), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk) (All pictured onstage at Comic-Con 2010)

If you want to join in the fun on screen be at the corner of Paseo de Peralta and Old Santa Fe Trail in Santa Fe by 10 a.m. local time to enter the process.

If "The Avengers" doesn't quite do it for you or if you don't do it for them, producers of both  "Breaking Bad" and "In Plain Sight" also will be on hand.

It's part of New Mexico Film and Media Day. In addition to the casting, there will be classes and demonstrations.
