‘The Avengers’ Hits $600M at U.S. Box Office

Disney and Marvel's superhero mashup "The Avengers" is No. 3 all time at the domestic box office behind only "Avatar" and "Titanic" 

Disney and Marvel’s "The Avengers" will cross $600 million at the domestic box office Tuesday.

It's the third movie to reach that threshold. 2009's "Avatar" is tops at $761 million and 1997's "Titanic" is No. 2 with $659 million.

The superhero mash-up has been breaking records all summer, beginning with its $207 million opening weekend back in May, the best ever. 

It was also the fastest film to $200 million (3 days), $300 million (9 days), $400 million (14 days) and $500 million (23 days).

It also owns the marks for the best Saturday ($69.5 million) and Sunday ($57 million) totals ever.

"The Avengers" has taken in $834 million overseas, and made $1.43 billion worldwide, No. 3 al-time behind "Avatar" and "Titanic."
