CORRECTED:
After shooting up to record levels in 2010, movie ticket prices are leveling off in 2011.
The National Association of Theater Owners released on Tuesday the average movie ticket price in the U.S. and Canada for the first quarter: $7.86.
The tally is down just over 1 percent from the $7.95 in the first quarter of 2010. It's also down about 2 percent from the $8.01 average price in the fourth quarter of last year, when the market was again dominated by 3D films.
For 2010, the domestic market's admission price averaged $7.89.
(Note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly listed the $7.86 number as a second quarter 2011 figure.)
