'Precious,' 'Glee,' 'Modern Family' Earn Humanitas Prizes

precious movieThe 36th annual Humanitas Prizes were handed out during a Beverly Hills luncheon Thursday, with the writers of movie "Precious," and TV series "Glee" and "Modern Family" among the winners. Projects were chosen for their ability to entertain and uplift audiences. Each award came with $10,000.

The winners:

Feature film category: Geoffrey Fletcher, "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire"

Sundance feature film category: Anne Rosselini and Debra Granik, "Winter's Bone"

90-minute category: Christopher Monger and William Merritt Johnson, "Temple Grandin"

60-minute category: Ryan Murphy, "Glee" ("Wheels" episode)

30-minute category: Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd, "Modern Family" ("Pilot" episode)
