After receiving her Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, "The Fighter" actress Melissa Leo made another speech backstage -- apologizing for the F-bomb that she let slip while collecting her statuette.
Leo admitted that the epithet was "a very inappropriate place to use that particular word ...those words, I apologize to anyone that they offend."
As for her presenter Kirk Douglas' lengthy introduction, Leo noted that she was actually grateful for his protracted run-up, as it gave her a chance to calm down.
"Actually," she said, "he was doing us all this huge favor because the longer he strung it out, the calmer and calmer I got to be."
