Best Actress Meryl Streep said backstage at the Oscars Sunday that after winning her first Oscar in 29 years, she felt like "a kid again"
Streep, who now has won three Academy Awards, said that "I thought I was so old and jaded, but they call your name and you just go into sort of -- I don't know -- a white light. And it was just thrilling. It was like I was a kid again. I was a kid the first time I won this!"
Streep quoted a poem: "It's as strange to be here once as it is to return," she said. "So that's true. It is strange. The whole thing is strange."
And she said she understands what she called "Streep Fatigue."
"I have everything I've ever dreamed of in my life," she said. "Frankly, I understand 'Streep Fatigue,' and it shocked me. It shocked me that it didn't override tonight. So I was really happy, but I don't take anything for granted. That's for sure."
