Producers Guild's Milestone Award Goes to Les Moonves

CBS president becomes rare executive to win PGA honor

CBS president and CEO Leslie Moonves has been named recipient of the Producers Guild of America's 2012 Milestone Award, the PGA announced on Tuesday.

Les MoonvesThe Milestone Award goes to "an individual who has made historic contributions to the entertainment industry," according to the PGA release announcing the honor. Typically, the award is given to a producer rather than an executive.

Previous recipients include James Cameron, Alfred Hitchcock, Clint Eastwood and Walt Disney.

“Les Moonves is a true visionary, with the rare combination of exemplary managerial skills, singular creative instincts and forward-thinking leadership of CBS and our industry,” PGA Awards co-chairs Paula Wagner and Michael Manheim said in the release.

“Les has continued to advance the entertainment landscape with his ability to stay at the forefront of new media ventures, identify strategic acquisitions, recognize unique programming such as ‘Survivor’ and ‘CSI,’ and successfully guide his continuously growing team to achieve extraordinary results."

The award will be given to Moonves at the 23rd annual Producers Guild Awards ceremony on Saturday, January 21 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
