To the surprise of nobody, the teens have chosen “Twilight.” Again.
“The Twlight Saga: New Moon” and its successor, “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” dominated Sunday night’s Teen Choice Awards, just as the series did at the MTV Movie Awards and at past Teen Choice ceremonies. (Last year's headline on theWrap's story: "Vampire Sweep Teen Choice Awards.")
The awards show, which took place at the Gibson Amphitheater at Universal City, will be telecast on Monday night at 8 p.m. on Fox — so prospective viewers who don’t want to know details of who won what should stop reading now.
For those who embrace what could be considered spoilers, the 13-to-19-year-old voters gave “Twilight” 11 awards, while the TV series “The Vampire Diaries” added eight more in what was clearly a very good night for sexy undead bloodsuckers.
With 35 awards in movie categories and another 28 in television, plus music, sports and fashion categories, the awards cut a wide swath across pop culture, but kept coming up with the same names: “Twlight,” “Vampire Diaries,” Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Sandra Bullock, Ashton Kutcher, “Gossip Girl,” Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift …
The movie categories singled out films in several genres: Action Adventure (“Sherlock Holmes”), Sci-Fi (“Avatar”), Fantasy (“Twilight: New Moon”), Drama (“The Blind Side”), Romantic Comedy (“Valentine’s Day”), Comedy (“Date Night”), Horror/Thriller (“Paranormal Activity”), Animated (“Toy Story 3”) and Summer (“Twilight: Eclipse”).
TV awards went to “Gossip Girl,” “The Vampire Diaries,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “Glee,” “Family Guy,” “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” “American Idol” and “Pretty Little Liars.”
And in the most unnecessary category of all, given the rest of the results, the award for Most Fanatic Fans went to "Twilight."
The show was hosted by Katy Perry and the cast of "Glee," and included appearances by George Lopez, Jimmy Fallon and Betty White, among others.
