There won't be a Colbert in Congress anytime soon.

Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch, sister of "Colbert Report" host Stephen Colbert, lost her South Carolina special Congressional election to Republican former Gov. Mark Sanford. Sanford won 54 to 45.

Colbert had supported his sister in the race, in a district that leans strongly Republican. (The two are pictured at a fundraising breakfast.)

The win was a big comeback for Sanford, who held the same seat in Congress before he became governor. His time as chief executive was marred by his admission that he left the state to carry on an affair with his then-mistress in Argentina. They are now engaged...

ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" dipped to a series low for performance shows Monday night, while NBC scored a ratings win despite "The Voice" dropping to tie a cycle low, according to preliminary numbers.

NBC took first place in the advertiser-preferred 18-49 demographic with a 3.3 rating/9 share and second in total viewers with 10 million. "The Voice" at 8 p.m., despite sliding 9 percent to tie a cycle low of 3.9/11, was still the top-rated show of the evening, and was the night's second most-watched show with 11.9 million total viewers. "Revolution" at 10 enjoyed a 17 percent boost over last week with a 2.1/6 and drew 10.8 million total viewers.

CBS was second in ratings and third in total viewers with a 2.2/6 and 7.5 million. "How I Met Your Mother" at 8 inched down to a season low of 2.6/8 and took 6.9 million...

Discovery Communications Inc. earned higher revenue and profit in the first quarter as its networks improved ratings.

The company said revenues increased 7 percent to $1.156 billion, compared to $1.51 billion expected by analysts, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S. Net income increased 4 percent to $231 million, up from $221 million, or 57 cents per share a year ago, Reuters said.

In an earnings call, the company boasted of four consecutive years of growth and said it now has 2 billion viewers worldwide....

Overrun from NASCAR racing took the night's top ratings on Sunday night, pushing Fox to a ratings win, while the season finale of CBS's "The Amazing Race" ticked down and ABC's "Red Widow" climbed for its season ender, according to preliminary numbers.

Fox took first place in the advertiser-sought 18-49 demographic with a 2.1 rating/6 share and second in total viewers with 5.8 million. The NASCAR overrun at 7 p.m. drew the evening's best demo performance with a 2.3/7 and 7.6 million total viewers. "The Simpsons," which started at 8:25, pulled a 1.7/5 with 4 million total viewers. "Bob's Burgers" at 9 had a a 2.0/5 with 4.4 million total viewers, while "Family Guy" at 9:30 had a 2.1/5 with 4.6 million total viewers. "American Dad" at 10 posted a 2.1/6 and took 5.1 million total viewers.
