Ratings: ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Scores Biggest-Ever Premiere With Post-Scandal Return

ABC is Monday’s runner-up in total viewers

After a production shutdown threatened to derail “Bachelor in Paradise,” lots of viewers tuned in for the ABC dating series’ Monday return.

“Paradise,” which launched Season 4 following allegations of misconduct that caused Warner Bros. to briefly stop filming in June, was seen by 5.0 million total viewers at 8 p.m. in its latest premiere, up by 11 percent over last year’s launch.

Monday’s episode earned a 1.3 rating among adults 18-49 and a 5 share, marking a seven percent increase over 2016’s debut. This is the series’ best-ever viewership for a premiere among the coveted demographic.

ABC was first in ratings with a 1.3 rating/5 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and second in total viewers with an average of 4.3 million, according to preliminary numbers. “The Gong Show” followed “Paradise” at 10 with a 0.8/3 and 2.9 million viewers.

NBC was second in ratings with a 1.2/5 and first in viewers with 5.0 million. “American Ninja Warrior” at 8 grabbed a 1.4/6 and 5.9 million viewers. At 10, “Midnight, Texas” had a 0.8/3 and 3.2 million viewers.

Fox and Telemundo tied for third in ratings with a 0.7/3. Fox was fourth in viewers with 2.8 million, and Telemundo was fifth with 1.6 million.

Fox’s sole program last night was “So You Think You Can Dance.”

CBS was fifth in ratings with a 0.6/2 and third in viewers with 3.5 million. Following repeats, “On Assignment” at 10 received at 0.4/2 and 2.8 million viewers.

Univision was sixth in ratings with a 0.4/2 and in viewers with 1.4 million.

The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.2/1 and in viewers with 1.1 million. After reruns, “Hooten & the Lady” eked out a 0.2/1 and 952,000 viewers.
