‘Ben & Kate,’ Mindy Kaling Project and ‘Goodwin Games’ Get Series Orders From Fox

Project from "The Office" star Mindy Kaling and two other comedies get the go-ahead from Fox

"Ben & Kate," formerly "Ben Fox Is My Manny," has been given the go-ahead by Fox with a full series order. A project from "The Office" vet Mindy Kaling and "The Goodwin Games" have also been given the green-light to series.

"Ben & Kate" stars Nat Faxon as Ben Fox, a "free-spirited young guy" who moves in with his type-A, tightly wound sister under the guise of being his niece's nanny, and helps his sibling re-enter the world.

The single-camera comedy, which comes from 20th Century Fox Television and Chernin Entertainment, also stars Dakota Johnson and Lucy Punch.

Dana Fox wrote the pilot and will produce along with Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope. Jake Kasden directed the pilot.

"It's Messy," the Mindy Kaling project, stars Kaling as Dr. Mindy Lahini, a "young Bridget-Jones type doctor trying to navigate both her personal and professional lives." Chris Messina and Ed Weeks also star in the Universal project. Kaling wrote the pilot and is serving as producer, along with Howard Klein.

Finally, "The Goodwin Games" stars "Felicity" alum Scott Foley and "Ugly Betty" star Becki Newton in a "high-concept family comedy about a father who leaves his fortune to his 3 children only if they agree to his terms."

"Late Show With David Letterman" and "How I Met You Mother" writers Carter Bays, Craig Thomas and Chris Harris are writing and producing.
