Bill O’Reilly Basks in Protégé Jesse Watters’ Big Strides (Video)

“About six years ago, I decided that I had to get Watters out of the building,” says Fox News host

Fox News Channel host Bill O’Reilly celebrated the 300th edition of Jesse Watters’ popular “Watters’ World” segment by explaining how it all started.

“So here’s what happened. About six years ago, I decided that I had to get Watters out of the building… had to. At that point he was a producer for ‘The Factor,’ a flamboyant presence to be sure. So, I said to myself, ‘Why waste Watters here? Why not inflict him upon the entire country?’ The rest is history,” O’Reilly said Monday before introducing the 300th segment.

“Watters’ World” remains a weekly segment on “The O’Reilly Factor,” but Watters now also hosts a weekly show with the same name on Saturday nights. The segment typically features Watters in a man-on-the-street format, where he exposes average Americans on their lack of knowledge or liberal bias.

“Somehow, some way Watters has become a big star. We don’t know exactly where he is right now but he’s doing something and he’ll be here on Thursday to tell us all about it,” O’Reilly said. “One more note, the guy who puts together all the Watters’ World editions with the clips is producer Rob Monaco, definitely a creative genius.”

Watters had quite a year in 2016, getting into a fight with a Huffington Post editor who was attempting to film him during a party and being condemned by New York City’s Mayor Bill de Blasio after a segment on Chinatown that offended some people and even helped a liberal arts college decide they should fly the American flag. He started off 2017 by landing his own show, which Fox News announced last month.

Watters joined Fox News in 2002 as a production assistant and has worked with “The O’Reilly Factor” since 2003.
