Bill O’Reilly Fears U.S. Becoming ‘Nation of Witch Hunters’ for Racists (Video)

“Who exactly is in charge of defining and exposing every instance of racism?” O’Reilly said. “Do we set up a tribunal in Salem, Massachusetts?”

Bill O’Reilly thinks exposing every instance of racism in the United States is potentially dangerous, because it could turn the country into “a nation of witch hunters.”

The Fox News personality issued the warning to his viewers Tuesday night as part of his response to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s recent Time article, “How to Tell If You’re a Racist Like Donald Sterling.”

The former NBA star’s opinion piece encouraged readers to seek out racism “every minute of every day and expose every instance we find,” in order to effectively combat it.

“That statement is dangerous, because if his vision were to come true, we would be a nation of witch hunters,” O’Reilly said during the segment (above). “Who exactly is in charge of defining and exposing every instance of racism? Who? Do we set up a tribunal in Salem, Massachusetts?”

O’Reilly argued the hypothetical tribunal and “race hustlers” are already getting their way, as people are being punished for donating money to controversial causes and college speakers are being turned away for politically incorrect views.

“If you study history you know, that’s what totalitarian regimes do — seek out opinions they don’t like and punish them,” O’Reilly said. “I think Abdul-Jabbar is a good man, but his call to expose racism and other injustices would only lead to more injustice.”
