Blake Lively Lands a ‘Hick’ of a Role

“Gossip Girl” actress signs on to star in big-screen coming-of-age drama

Blake Lively is moving from sophisticated New York to "Hick" territory.

The “Gossip Girl” beauty, who plays NYC socialite Serena van der Woodsen on the hit series, has signed on for Derick Martini’s coming-of-age drama/comedy “Hick,” her agent has confirmed to TheWrap.

The film, which also stars Juliette Lewis and "Kick-Ass'" Chloe Moretz, will revolve around a 13-year-old girl from Nebraska who runs away to Las Vegas only to find that Sin City delivers more than she bargained for.

The 23-year-old actress, who starred opposite Ben Affleck in last year’s drama “The Town,” is also poised to up her cinematic profile in this year’s superhero film “Green Lantern,” due out on June 17 and co-starring Ryan Reynolds as the titular hero.

"Hick" is being produced by Lighthouse Entertainment and Taylor Lane Productions.
