Kate Gosselin: Talkshow Host? Ugh.
OK, you win.
I’d completely refrained from following the Gosselin affair, but can’t hold off any longer.
Just when the focus had turned to other entertainment news, ‘Katezilla’ -- as she’s affectionately referred to by others in the media -- strikes again, and this time ABC hired the controversial celeb and mother-of-eight to guest-host a popular daytime talk show.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s spot on "The View" is vacant while she’s on maternity leave, and the hosting post is scheduled to be filled by a variety of guests including Gosselin, Latoya Jackson and Meghan McCain.
Qualifications aside, how did Mrs. Gosselin end up on the list for this hosting gig?
To me it’s rather simple: ratings. ABC reportedly had the lowest scores this past month.
The chatty morning commentary show has had its share of drama; Rosie and Elizabeth, Barbara and Rosie; Barbara and Star, and their reported feuds have all drawn viewers.
For "The View’s" upcoming season premier, it seems the show’s producers put their thinking caps on and want to capitalize on whatever following she can pull in.
Gosselin can be easy on the eyes, and judging from the positive comments from her recent Larry King appearance, the ears too. And goodness knows that after having EIGHT kids, the hot-tempered momma can confidently don a bikini with the best Hollywood-body moms!
But, how will the hyper-busy mom swing it? I was under the impression Kate Gosselin is going through a divorce and has the Gosselin bunch to tend to.
Making the announced talk-show rounds on "GMA," "Today Show," "Live with Regis and Kelly" in addition to "The View" requires time away from mommy duty, but allows the reality matriarch to earn some milk money.
Ideally, the talk show temp job is pre-planned to coincide when daddy Jon has the kids since they publicly announced the breakup would be amicable to benefit their children.
I’ll admit I haven’t watched a single TLC episode about the multiple-birth family since I get the gist of it by reading the headlines on the gossip magazines blanketing my OBGYN’s waiting room table. And I’m not the least bit curious about why they’re on TV displaying their miraculous offspring.
In fact, I must have been living under a rock since 2005, when "Jon and Kate Plus 8" premiered, because it was just this summer -- when the octo-parents’ troubles dominated the media -- that I first heard of the doomed couple and their eight children.
In case there’s still something Kate hasn’t covered on the family’s reality show, on September 14 and 15 I’ll be taking in the view from my window, which will likely be more entertaining than ABC’s "The View" with Gosselin.
Or, will it?
Curiosity got the best of me after I got this bit of news, and I allowed myself a few moments to do a quick survey of possible topics the regular panel of experienced hosts could possibly discuss with Kate after they’ve finished fixing Obamas’ health care plan: Private or public schools? Gymboree or designer baby duds? Post partum exercise and diet?
I don’t know. And frankly, I don’t care.
If you watch "The View" and catch Gosselin as guest host, could you please let me know what you got out of it? Especially if you get the name of her hair stylist.

I agree that Kate Gosselin is highly over-rated. She is annoying and phoney. I also agree that there should be some interviews with her family. Why she keeps them away, who knows, but it would be interesting. Of course, there is the other side of it, perhaps they stay away on purpose. Perhaps they too, like many of us, cannot tolerate her. Kate has driven her husband away with her rude, obnoxious behavior, and in a few years the kids might see that. When she says that the house is the kids house and that they do the tv show for the kids, that may be partially true. The kids do need a spacious and nice place to live and without the tv show, they definately would have a different lifestyle. Having said that, it is also very apparent that Kate loves thinking of herself as a celebrity and enjoys the magazine covers and photographers. If it all went away, she would probably be devestated. Would someone please tell her that she is not an enjoyable person.

What you need todo do is interview Kate's sisters and brother and mother and father. They aren't in her childrens lives because she doesn't want them getting any of her money. She;s just exploiting the kids for finacial benift. Who care who she sleeping with? Her and Jon really turned out to be trash in the eyes of many.

What are Ms. Gosselin's credentials for being a host? That's she's infertile and attention-hungry? She has no sense of humour or charm. Give her five months - the Paparazzi she supposedly can't stand she'll be begging to have them photograph her as her 15 minutes ends . . . please end this reality-show travesty already

Anything that Kate Gosselin has to do with or has her name on I will never watch. The view included. There is not any reason to watch someone that uses her children to earn a pay check. All they seem to be to her is employee's. The only reason she takes the children places it seems is to put them to work like they are enjoying themselves to be filmed. All along it is staged. It is staged in order to put those kids to work to earn money for KATE GOSSELIN. Jon finaly got out of her prison and will find happiness. Kate used and abused him it seems and IMO she is doing the same to those kids. Kate wanted to be implanted with all these kids. She did it and since seems like she wants the public to pay the way, and pay it in a high price way for her to live the way she does. She does not even give back like she could and should. Selfish & Greedy. Karm will get her in the end, and so will Jon. Peace be with you Jon, glad to see you finally got rid of the big bad witch! Hope those children get taken away from Kate and put into the care of a real mom that will not use them to earn a paycheck for mommie dearest! Kate, you are a disgrace to all moms in the world. I'm just sick and tired of both Kate and Jon Gosselin. They need to go away and stay away. Kate Gosselin loves the limelight just as much as Jon, and then she has the audacity to critisize him for being so public with their divorce. Gimme a break, lady. You both love it. As to being on the "The View", how dissapointing. You mean to tell me that the producers weren't able to find someone better qualified? Suzette, you're absolutely right, it's all about ratings and the morbid society we live in. What can Kate Gosselin possibly offer to this show? Except for the ratings that the producers so eagerly want. As to me watching "The View", I'll take a pass as I've done with the "Jon and Kate" show. I rather do something more productive like.....pick the lint out of my belly button.

You could not pay me to watch Kate Gosselin. I could not believe that the "View" has stooped this low. She is such a mean-spirited self-serving witch that I can't believe that abc would allow her on the show. Of course, people will tune in just in case she has some dirt on Jon. How pathetic is that. Why else would anyone watch it. TV has sunk to new lows.
