Role Model? Shanna Moakler is In Serious Denial

Role Model? Shanna Moakler is In Serious Denial

Oh, no she didn’t!

I tuned in to my regular radio talk show where the discussion was the recent

abdication of the director’s throne over at the Miss California pageant offices.

I was sure I had missed hearing Reese Witherspoon’s name instead of Shanna Moakler’s in the part of the good-bye speech mentioning a role model.

But my ears had not betrayed me.

I had heard the former beauty queen’s quote correctly, and I was in complete shock while picking up my kids at school.

Did Moakler really say, “I feel it's more important to be a role model for my children,” as she stepped down from her righteous post?

After refocusing my thoughts, I pondered the loss and concluded Moakler left me no option but to gush about how she would be a good youth role model; one we can easily emulate since she’s already on TV. Hollywood will surely place her front and center for our budding youth. Right?

Not in the land I live in. Not in my country. Not where I was raised. At least I hope not.

Far from becoming anyone else’s role model but to her own three kids, Moakler can certainly show how to become a pageant queen to her two daughters.

By age 17, the ex-Miss USA had participated in a couple of pageants, and by 26, she had appeared as a centerfold in Playboy. She was unmarried and already had a child when she posed for the shoot.

This is just the kind of thing we need to lead our young daughters by example; start by showing off your body on stage in a bikini, and reach your goal by taking it all off for a national publication.

Miss Moakler, don’t let the door hit you on the way out!

If the replacement for the Miss California office isn’t already determined, it would be great if those around the conference table, tossing around names and faces to represent the organization, could also throw a few qualified role-model names into the hat.

I don’t mean Victoria Secret-type role models. How about someone with more proven qualifications other than just looking good in a bathing suit?

Maybe neither Carrie Prejean nor Moakler’s names will be on the short list this time, but here’s a suggestion; perhaps Ivanka Trump could consider applying for the now-empty post Miss Moakler vacated.

Conviction, guts, brains AND beauty…what a refreshing pageant concept!

I was certain the irony of Miss Moakler's position was not lost on everyone but me.free games

So, on the one hand, you have a woman who:
1) incoherently formulates an answer you have to translate into English,
2) parades around talk shows claiming she lost a contest solely because of her stance of the aforementioned botched response, and
3) we later find out that she lied on her application, which should be grounds for removal from her post.

On the other hand, you have a woman who:
1) Voiced her opinion of the situation in several occasions,
2) When evidence that the contestant lied on her application, recommended she be removed from her post, and
3) When her recommendations were not recognized, she refused to further represent the organization.

And, we're to congratulate the FORMER for standing up for her beliefs while demonizing the LATTER? Slightly hypocritical and biased, don't you think? Are we that simple minded to focus on one attribute of a person to form our impression of every future decision that person makes? Just because she stands on the same side as you on the same vs. "opposite"-sex marriage debate, should not automatically give Ms. Prejean a free pass to her many other shortfalls. Likewise, Ms. Moakler's previous decisions should not automatically disqualify her future accomplishments. That aside, I do wholeheartedly agree with your assessment of Ivanka Trump.

What exactly did Carrie say that was so offensive? That because of her beliefs and how she was raised she was against gay marriage. I don't recall her saying " I hate those gays" or calling them any derogatory word. She just said she wasn't pro gay marriage. Guess what, most Christians that believe in the Bible are not pro gay marriage either. Are they all discriminating against gays? Do they hate gays? No! They just don't agree with their lifestyle! However, Perez Hilton called Miss Cali a bitch for stating her beliefs. That is something I do find offensive as a woman. There is a big difference between the KKK, Hitler, and Carrie. Carrie has never went out and physically hurt anyone. She just said what her stance was on gay marriage as have a lot of people. Yet they were not bashed for their opinions. If you think that stating your beliefs and having an opinion is the same as slaughtering millions of people then you need serious help. Carrie also didn't say anything negative about gay people either, she didn't call them anything nasty like Perez did to her. What is so threatening about ONE woman's opinion that people think they need to bash this girl? It would be different if she was going out and killing gay people, but all she said was I am not pro gay marriage. Guess what, neither am I. Yet, I don't hate gay people. Just because you do not agree with someone's lifestyle doesn't mean you don't like them or are discriminating against them. What about freedom of speech & freedom of religion? It sounds to me like she is the one being discriminated against. If you think Shanna Moakler is a great role model for children then I feel sorry for you and your children if you have any because this girl leaves her kids at home to go out and party. It has nothing to do with her being a single mother. My mother was a single mother too! Yet, she was home with her kids and not out partying and getting drunk and in fights every weekend. Not to mention the long list of other things Shanna has done that are definitely not very becoming of a mother.

Shanna Moakler a role model? Really? So basically as a role model she says it is NOT OKAY to pose semi-nude while you are holding the title, but completley fine to pose Spread Eagle FULLY NUDE after you are no longer holding the title. It's okay to have several kids by several different fathers and then leave the kids at home to go out partying and drinking with the likes of Paris Hilton. It's okay to get in bar fights and slap someone but not okay to speak truthfully about your opinions. Give me a break....All you have to do is google Shanna's name and you'll find a long list of things she's done to get media attention. She is in no way a role model or she shouldn't be. Just because she was no longer holding her title when she done all these things means nothing because she was still representing the company and the pageant industry in general since she was still working for said company. Shanna Moakler is no role model but she is a big hypocrite. There is nothing wrong with being a single mom or posing for Playboy, but add all the other things this girl has done to that list and then for her to say she is a role model is more than laughable. To pose fully nude in Playboy then say someone else is wrong for posing semi-nude is ridiculous. So if you agree that Shanna is a role model then I guess you are saying it's okay to teach young girls that it's okay to have several children by several different dads then leave those kids at home while you go out and have yourself a good time, get in bar fights, ect., marry a fool and get a reality TV show so you can further expose & make money off those kids, pose nude in playboy and the list goes on and on and on. Yet, you say that Carrie is not a role model or less of one because she spoke truthfully about her opinions and beliefs and took some supposed semi-nude pics when she was younger, which by the way were never even supposed to see the light of day and probably never would have if she had been pro gay marriage. Plus, Carrie said that the wind blew open her shirt exposing her chest, which I don't know if that is true or not, but why lie now? Why not lie when you could of won the crown (seriously she had to know it would hurt her chances of winning considering she had a flaming gay queen on the judging panel) and when there was way more at stake? You can take her word or the word of the sleazy photog that sold the pics and is trying to get his 15 mins. of fame just like Shanna is trying to get another 15 for herself by riding on Miss Cali's media train. Talking about de-crowning someone, Tara Conner had some very unflattering photos surface after being crowned, as well as a substance abuse problem, her crown wasn't taken away so why should Carrie's be taken away? Honestly, i would have to say that I think Carrie and Tara Conner are both better role models than Shanna. Shanna Moakler saying she is more of a role model than Carrie is like Paris Hilton or Britney Spears saying they are more of a role model than Carrie Underwood or Miley Cyrus. The author is correct, Shanna is either really in denial or really stupid. However, what irritates me the most in this media circus is that Perez Hilton found one girl's opinion so threatening that he had to launch an all out witch hunt against her. He can get by with calling her a bitch just because her opinions do not match his own. Where are all the women's rights activists at? Why are they not standing up for Miss Prejean? Since when is it okay to call a woman such a derogatory name just because, god forbid she has a mind of her own and beliefs of her own? Also, why is everyone acting like because she said she believes in the Bible and she was raised to think gay marriage is wrong that she is some super holy saint that is supposed to not make any mistakes? So what is she posed semi nude? What is the difference in that and parading around in a bathing suit for the whole world to see? Just because someone is a Christian doesn't mean they are perfect and it doesn't mean that they are saints either. How do we know that Carrie didn't get saved after she posed for those pics? I know Christians that go to church on Sunday and curse on Monday, that believe gay marriage is wrong but that nudity is fine, there is no definitive belief system that makes you a REAL Christian except believing in God. Different denominations of Christians believe different things such as one might think it is not okay for women to be preachers and another might think it is fine, one might believe that God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost are one and another may think they are 3 different things, some Christians believe once saved always saved meaning they could go out and get saved then drink, curse all they want and still go to heaven ect. Just because someone thinks that all Christians believe the same thing doesn't make it so!

What a SUPERIOR attitude from the author! She sure gives a slap in the face to single mothers. My own mother was a single mother in 1933 after being raped. It appears that the author's wrath falls equally on all single mothers. Who is she to judge someone else's life!!!!!!!!!!!! Remember, we live in a country where we get to choose, single motherhood or opposite motherhood.

Then she trashes Moakler for quitting her job and stating she wants to be a role model for her children. Frankly, I wish more parents would publicly state their desire to be a role model for their own children.

Next she's looking for a role model for the the organization. Moakler is a very SUCCESSFUL product of this organization, which the author despises. Moakler was a Playboy centerfold? BFD! The magazine has been around since 1953. There are many other mothers who have been centerfolds. Plus, it is legal and Shanna was truthful about it. GET RID of the "beauty pageants"! They have never been about anything than a skin show.

I don't recall that Prejean showed any remorse for anything. On the contrary she has tromped around doing her VICTIM routine on TV, restating her beliefs. She has let the WHOLE world know that she is someone who believes in DISCRIMINATION based on sexual orientation, and that she is a supporter of UNEQUAL civil marriage laws. She has spoken on behalf of an organization whose purpose is to deny equal civil rights to gays. This DEEPLY OFFENDS millions of people. When I hear her say that, it sounds like she thinks she is better than other Americans and that she deserves special rights. The KKK also expresses its opinion, and we also find that offensive. Hitler had his opinion, and we found that offensive. The Catholic Church has slaughtered millions of non christians, and that is offensive.

Thank goodness that Shanna Moakler is someone who stands up for EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL AMERICANS. She is now expressing her right to quit her job and get on with her life. "Best wishes for the future" seems appropriate.

"By age 17, the ex-Miss USA had participated in a couple of pageants, and by 26, she had appeared as a centerfold in Playboy. She was unmarried and already had a child when she posed for the shoot."

So, basically, you're saying she's a slut.

"Did Moakler really say, 'I feel it's more important to be a role model for my children,' as she stepped down from her righteous post?"

Who, therefore, has no right to show her children how strongly she believes in equality for everyone.

Look, I don't think Moakler handled the situation with much elegance. Trying to get someone on a technicality demonstrates weak evidence for a primary argument. As does switching up a rationale on the fly.

But you're doing the same thing here -- trashing Moakler for something you don't like about her resume (a technicality) to undermine her central argument (that she doesn't want to support bigotry).

I don't have a problem arguing an issue's merits; I do have a problem with the use of ad hominem attacks.

I was certain the irony of Miss Moakler's position was not lost on everyone but me.

The thing that slays me is that she actually believes it. She's dumber than I originally thought.

I would be less than honest if I didn't also say how much I enjoyed watching her squirm next to the podium during the press conference.

The Donald gave her one good spanking. How I enjoyed the karma.

It seems Moakler is no role model for telling the truth herself. She said the lack of compassion in Prejean's answer cost Prejean the win when the controversy started. Now, she is saying the answer either way would have no impact on the final outcome. Sounds like changing her story when she realized the public is on Prejean's side. She also did her part to out Prejean on the breast implants. Is that part of the contract to violate a contestant's privavy? Is part of the contract to trash one of the contestants publically to defame and humiliate her? Contractually speaking, Moakler does not have a leg to stand on to accuse Prejean of breaching the contract, when Moakler's own actions made it impossible for Prejean not to do interviews to respond to the attacks on her character.

I am not a big believer in using Moakler's past against her since we all do things we regret in the past, if we are honest with ourselves. Moakler's big problem is that she never it seems take responsibility for them so why should she be the one to demand anyone else take responsibility for their actions especially those of the past? Prejean at least showed remorse for things in the past. Moakler has not.

I am pleased Shannon Moakler resigned. Her sin was to fail to support Miss California. The idiot judge asked Miss California a loaded question, which she answered truthfully. It shouldn't matter whether one agrees or disagrees with her answer. We should be outraged that the contest was judged by a heterophobic idiot who was determined to press his agenda to the detriment of the pageant. As such, Ms.Moakler should have supported her state's representative's right to answer as truthfully as she knew, and to censure the judge who maliciously put a young woman into the middle of a political contraversy. Loyalty, as I hope Ms. Moakler learns, works both ways. She might have gained loyalty, had she earned it and given it. She didn't; she let Miss California down, and her employer, Donald Trump, who very stupidly announced he would retain the heterophobic judge. What for? He's not a judge. He's a prejudge.

I have to agree with Ms. Valle. Shana Moakler...a role model...for what...hookers???

Having successfully raised two teenagers I would have done a real disservice to my daughter letting her idolize a vacuous, unintelligent, exhibitionist such as Miss Moakler. Sure, she has a pretty face, and big boobs, but be serious. The only thing she is a role model for is facilitating nocturnal emissions in pre-pubescent males. (Find a dictionary Tony and look the words up)

Does she really expect to be a role model hanging out at night clubs, and bitch slapping fellow skanks such as Paris Hilton? The only place for a "role model" like her is in a trailer park. (No offense Tony)

What is the Miss USA pageant really peddling? Sex! Over tanned bikini bods in high heels.

Thanks Ms. Moakler for stepping down before you tripped over your brainless, silicone enhanced, ego. I'm sure you'll be missed...by someone.

Being in Playboy doesn't mean you are a bad person. Shanna Moakler is a role model for standing up for what she believes in, even at personal cost.

All that Ms Valle seems to know how to do is attack others. From the article she clearly cannot handle any mother who had a child out of wedlock. She is probably just jealous that Moakler has it all...beauty, brains, courage, and her children. I am sure Ms Moakler, who I saw on TV and is very articulate, is a great mother and her children will turn out better for her example.

I just hope Suzette Valle's children don't grow up to be the kind of finger wagging moralists she is.
