‘Bones’ Star David Boreanaz Hints at Series End

"I'm a free agent after this season," Boreanaz tweets

Willl "Bones" get buried after its upcoming eighth season? The series' star, David Boreanaz, seems to think so.

Boreanaz — who stars as FBI special agent Seeley Booth on the crime series — wrote a series of tweets that will certainly have an ominous tone for fans of the series, suggesting that "Bones" will wrap its run after its next season.

Boreanaz began the tease-fest with a reference to the "Bones" panel at next month's Comic-Con convention.

"SDCC 2012 shld be a blast and quite possibly the last for #Bones ?" Boreanaz wrote. "Farewell tour? Look forward to seeing everyone there."

Boreanaz went on to further give "Bones" fans a chill by noting, "Let's put this in sports terms. I'm a free agent after this season. So the Bones fair well [sic] tour is in full-swing."

And as if that weren't enough to put the show's followers on pins and needles, Boreanaz concluded, "You must always keep your options open and ready for New challenges. The fear is the unknown and that's exciting."

Boreanaz's twitter account has been prescient about the show's future before. Last May, Boreanaz tweeted that the show had been picked up for a seventh season — a full day before Fox announced the renewal.

Fox and 20th Century Fox Television, which produces "Bones," had no comment for TheWrap on Boreanaz's tweets. The series' eighth season will premiere in the fall.
