Ratings: ABC’s ‘Boy Band’ Gets Finale Bump, But It’s Still a Non-Factor

“Big Brother” bests “Weekend Update: Summer Edition” for CBS win

ABC's' 'Boy Band'

Hey, “Boy Band” rose from last week, but both the singing competition’s season finale and host-network ABC’s primetime Nielsen averages proved to be non-factors on Thursday.

CBS topped the evening outright, as “Big Brother” bested “Weekend Update: Summer Edition.” NBC finished in second place for the night.

Despite being preempted for NFL preseason football in certain parts of the country, ABC settled for fifth place in the key 18-49 demographic.

CBS was first in ratings with a 1.2 rating/5 share in the advertiser-coveted demographic and in total viewers with an average of 5.2 million, according to preliminary numbers. Following reruns, “Big Brother” at 9 p.m. scored a 1.8/7 and 6.4 million viewers. “Zoo” at 10 had a 0.6/2 and 2.9 million viewers.

NBC was second in ratings with a 1.0/4 and in viewers with 4.6 million. “The Wall” at 8 posted a 1.0/5 and 5.4 million viewers. At 9, “Weekend Update” landed a 1.1/5 and 4.5 million viewers. “The Night Shift” at 10 received a 0.8/3 and 4.1 million viewers.

Fox and Telemundo tied for third in ratings, both with a 0.7/3. Fox was third in total viewers with 2.5 million, Telemundo was fifth with 2 million.

For Fox, “Beat Shazam” at 8 had a 0.8/4 and 2.6 million viewers. At 9, “Love Connection” got a 0.6/3 and 2.4 million viewers.

ABC was fifth in ratings with a 0.6/2 and fourth in viewers with 2.3 million. “Boy Band” at 8 managed a 0.7/3 — which is actually a season high for the struggling show — and 2.7 million viewers. “Battle of the Network Stars” at 9 received a 0.5/2 and 2.3 million viewers. A repeat followed.

Univision was sixth in ratings with a 0.5/2 and seventh in viewers with 1.4 million.

The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.4/2 and sixth in viewers with 1.6 million. “Penn & Teller: Fool Us” at 8 had a 0.4/2 and 1.7 million viewers. At 9, “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” got a 0.4/2 and 1.4 million viewers. A second episode at 9:30 received a 0.4/1 and 1.5 million viewers.
