Open Road Sets Release Date for ‘Outrun’

The romantic action comedy stars Bradley Cooper and Kristen Bell

A release date of Aug. 24, 2012, has been set for "Outrun," a romantic-action-comedy starring Bradley Cooper, Kristen Bell and Kristin Chenoweth, Open Road Films announced Wednesday.

The ensemble movie was written and co-directed by Dax Shepard, who stars as the main character.

David Palmer ("Brother's Justice") co-directed the film, which is currently in post-production.

Shepard plays Charlie Bronson, a former getaway driver who attempts to drive his girlfriend (Bell) to L.A. so she can clinch her dream job.

Cooper plays the leader of a criminal gang in which Shepard's character was previously affiliated.

Tom Arnold plays a character who leads a team of federal officials pursuing Bronson, who was formerly in the Witness Protection Program.

The cast also includes David Koechner, Michael Rosenbaum, Joy Bryant and Ryan Hansen.

"Outrun" was produced by Andrew Panay with Nate TuckKim Waltrip and Jim Casey.
