‘Breaking Bad’ Creator Vince Gilligan Praises Charlie Rose on Cameo: ‘Absolutely Fantastic’ (Video)

Charlie Rose was “the best person we could have picked to play Charlie Rose,” Vince Gilligan says

Charlie Rose made an appearance on the penultimate episode of “Breaking Bad,” and on Tuesday morning it was time for “Breaking Bad” creator Vince Gilligan to return the favor.

Gilligan, who apparently was able to escape Stephen Colbert’s clutches Monday popped in on “CBS This Morning” to talk about the hit AMC meth drama — and particularly Rose’s cameo.

(On the series, veteran interviewer Rose played host to Walter White’s former Gray Matter partners Gretchen and Elliott Schwartz, who downplayed White’s involvement in the company, given his notoriety as a drug kingpin.)

“We all love Mr. Rose, and I have to say you did such a wonderful job. You were just absolutely fantastic,” Gilligan told Rose and his co-hosts. “I think [he] was the best person  we could have picked to play Charlie Rose.”

Gilligan also admitted to getting misty-eyed when he wrote the final scene of the series, which aired its finale on Sunday.

“When I wrote the end … that last paragraph or so, I hate to admit it, but I teared up a bit,” Gilligan said. “It was very emotional, because that was the last time that I was ever gonna write that character.”
