‘Breaking Bad’ Shatters Ratings Record With Emmy Night Episode

6.6 million people tune in to watch penultimate “Breaking Bad” episode

On a highly competitive night that included the Emmy awards and the series finale of “Dexter,” “Breaking Bad” hit another ratings record, drawing 6.6 million total viewers with its penultimate episode.

The previous episode pulled in 6,4 million total viewers, which at the time was a record for the show, which airs its series finale Sept. 29.

In the 18-49 demographic most important to advertisers, “Breaking Bad” drew 4.3 million viewers, up from last week’s 4.052 million.

In addition to the ratings record, “Breaking Bad” had another reason to celebrate on Sunday night — the AMC series grabbed its first Emmy for outstanding drama series,  while Anna Gunn took away best supporting actress in a drama series honors.
