Brie Larson’s ‘Captain Marvel’ Finds Its Directors

“Mississippi Grind” helmers Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck will direct

“Mississippi Grind” directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck will direct Marvel’s “Captain Marvel,” TheWrap has learned.

Brie Larson will star in the titular role, which was announced last July at Comic-Con. Rumors that Larson was in very early talks for the role — air force pilot Carol Danvers, who is blessed with half-alien DNA —  first surfaced the month prior.

Meg LeFauve (“Inside Out”) is currently writing the script with Nicole Perlman (“Guardians of the Galaxy”), which follows Carol Danvers, who has superpowers of strength, energy project and flight. Kevin Feige is producing.

“Captain Marvel” is expected to be released March 8, 2019.

Fleck and Boden’s joined credits include “Billions,” “The Affair” and “It’s Kind of a Funny Story.”

They are both represented by WME and Management 360.

On Monday, Marvel Studios gave TheWrap a rare look inside its headquarters on the Disney lot in Burbank, California, where Marvel execs presented the first look at Larson as Captain Marvel in her uniform.

The costume is an updated take to what Kelly Sue DeConnick did with “Captain Marvel” in the 2012/13 Marvel comic run.

Variety first reported the news about Fleck and Boden.
