Britney Spears Confirms She Won’t Return to ‘X Factor’ Next Season

The "Toxic" singer is the second judge from the second season to leave the Fox reality competition series

Oops…another judge did it again.

Britney Spears has confirmed she's not returning to "X Factor" next season, making her the second judge to jump ship since record exec L.A. Reid announced his departure last month.

"I've made the very difficult decision not to return for another season," Spears said in a statement obtained by TheWrap. "I had an incredible time doing the show and I love the other judges and I am so proud of my teens, but it's time for me to get back in the studio."

Apparently, Spears snagged a little inspiration on top of the $15 million paycheck she earned for judging and mentoring talent on the second season of Simon Cowell's reality competition series.

"Watching them all do their thing up on that stage every week made me miss performing so much," she added. "I can't wait to get back out there and do what I love most."

Spears will be the fifth judge to leave the show since Fox first picked up the UK hit in 2011. Nicole Scherzinger, Paula Abdul and Cheryl Cole left after the first season.

Cowell and Demi Lovato are the only remaining judges which means Fox will be busy searching for two more famous singers to join the celebrity panel.
