Broad Green Pictures announced today the hiring of industry veteran Travis Reid as President of Theatrical Distribution. In his new role, Reid will oversee the theatrical distribution of the company’s current specialty, and forthcoming wide release slates, including theatrical sales, exhibitor relations, in-theatre marketing, and all associated operations in these areas.

In addition to its current specialty slate, Broad Green Pictures plans to distribute a minimum of 6 films annually in wide release beginning in 2016. Reid’s hiring is an integral part of preparation for the company’s dual strategy that will have the studio slated with 12-16 films annually.  These films will result from internally developed productions, based on an array of materials including scripts, specs, books, life rights, and other IP-based assets, as well as acquisitions and co-productions.

“Broad Green believes in the big theatrical experience. There’s something so special about watching a movie with an audience engaging in shared emotion and laughter,” said Gabriel Hammond, CEO, and Daniel Hammond, Chief Creative Officer, of Broad Green Pictures. “We want to partner with exhibition to bring incredible filmed entertainment to theatres. Having Travis at the helm underscores this priority for our company and we look forward to the terrific opportunities that he will create for the studio.”

“I am very excited to be joining Gabriel and Daniel Hammond, and the team at Broad Green Pictures,” said Reid. “I am really looking forward to a dynamic collaboration with my studio colleagues who not only have a collective passion for film and the theatrical experience, but the evolution of our business at large.”

Travis Reid most recently served as Chief Executive Officer of Screenvision where he will continue to serve on the Board of Directors. Prior to joining Screenvision in 2010, Reid was the Chief Executive Officer of Digital Cinema Implementation Partners (DCIP) where he oversaw the execution of required studio agreements, the arrangement of $660 million in financing, and the initial stages of DCIP’s 15,000 screen conversion to digital cinema.

Reid has held multiple positions during his 30 year career in theatrical exhibition, including 15 years with Loews Cineplex Entertainment where he served as Chief Executive Officer from 2002 through its successful merger with AMC in 2006. Reid remained on the Board of AMC until joining Screenvision. In addition, past professional and community affiliations include serving as a trustee of Cineplex Galaxy Income Fund and as a member of the Board of Directors of Fandango, The Will Rogers Memorial Fund and the Motion Picture Pioneers where he served as President.
