Bryan Cranston Joins ‘Rock of Ages’

Emmy-winning “Breaking Bad” star is the latest to be tied to New Line’s adaptation of the hit Broadway musical

Bryan Cranston is getting his villain on.

The "Breaking Bad" star, already slated to be the "Total Recall" bad guy, will play the mayor of Los Angeles in Adam Shankman's adaptation of the Broadway hit "Rock of Ages."

In a message on Twitter, the director wrote, "So honored! Bryan Cranston is joining the cast … LA has a mayor!"

While the mayor of the City of Angels isn't always a villain, in "Rock of Ages," the mayor's wife — played by Catherine Zeta-Jones — is a meanie who crusades against rock-and-roll and tries to keep it out of the city.
