Although “Burn Notice” approaches its final episode next Thursday, it may not be the last you’ve seen of creator Matt Nix‘s shows on USA. Nix has had a medical drama in development for the cable network and things are looking really good for a pickup.

“We’re sort of moving forward to casting and thinking about actually doing it,” Nix told TheWrap. “So, the indications seem to be good at USA.”

“Complications” follows an emergency room doctor whose life changes after being involved in a gang shooting.

“It’s sort of an interesting serialized medical drama, which is something I’m really excited about,” Nix said.

“I always seem to write about people who are struggling to do the right thing and it might be a difficult situation and I don’t know why it comes back to that, but it seems to be my thing,” he later added.

“Complications,” which Nix wrote and will executive produce, comes from Fox Television Studios. USA announced it as part of its development slate in May.

A USA representative told TheWrap that reports of a pickup are “not official.”

As for “Burn Notice,” Nix said he definitely left the door open for a possible spinoff or movie.

“I would love to do it,” he exclaimed. “The door has been left open intentionally, but nobody’s asked me to write a script. If the opportunity ever arose to do something like that I’d be thrilled.”
