CAA to Help Italian Soccer Giant AS Roma Find a Stadium Sponsor

CAA has made similar deals on behalf of Madison Square Garden and the San Francisco 49ers

Italian soccer giant AS Roma has hired CAA to help find a sponsor for its new stadium and the entertainment complex around it, the companies said Monday. AS Roma is a flagship franchise in the Italian soccer league, Serie A, and will open its new home, Stadio della Roma, in time for the 2016-7 season.

The complex will include a 52,500-seat stadium, an amphitheater, an indoor concert venue, a football training center, a Nike store, the AS Roma Hall of Fame, a retail and dining area and an office park. It will host more than 200 events a year, including football matches, concerts, rugby competitions and various cultural festivals.

CAA’s property consulting division has completed more than $3 billion in sponsorships, helping Madison Square Garden partner with JP Morgan Chase, and the San Francisco 49ers make a deal with Levi Strauss and Co. The division recently was named the best in the Property Consulting, Sales and Client Services division at the 2014 Sports Business Awards.

The agency has a wealth of experience in European football, working with FC Barcelona and Chelsea FC.

“As we start conversations with potential corporate partners, our primary selling point is more than just aligning your company or brands with one of world’s most historic football clubs in AS Roma,” AS Roma president James Palotta said in a statement. “It’s about being one of the first stakeholders in a sports and entertainment complex unlike any in the world.  And it’s about having a meaningful presence in one of the greatest cities in the world.  CAA Sports will be central to telling our story and building our business to audiences and prospects worldwide.”
