Can Nat Geo Out-Wallenda Wallenda? Plans Live Skyscraper Climb

Alex Honnold will free climb mystery skyscraper

National Geographic Channel is following up its "Space Dive with Felix Baumgartner" and Discovery's "Skywire Live With Nik Wallenda" by showing free climber Alex Honnold free-climbing a skyscraper.

The two-hour event, "Live Climb with Alex Honnold," is produced by Sender Films and will air live this fall globally on NGC. The skyscraper will remain a mystery for security reaons.

“I've always loved climbing in all forms and this is an amazing opportunity to push my own climbing into interesting new terrain. I've admired the aesthetics of sky scrapers my whole life; it's great to be able to climb one" said Honnold.

The 27-year-old gained international fame for his 2008 free solo ascent of Yosemite National Park's Half Dome, a sheer 2,000-foot granite face.

Nat Geo announced the show at its Television Critics Association summer press tour panel on Wednesday.
