Candidate’s Accidental Porn Post Has Perfectly Reasonable Explanation

Republican congressional candidate Mike Webb’s screenshot featured tabs for pornographic videos

A Virginia man running for Congress raised some eyebrows when he posted a screenshot from his computer that featured tabs for porn videos. But don’t worry: He has a perfectly reasonable explanation.

Republican Mike Webb was posting on his campaign’s Facebook page about the difficulties of finding a job in Arlington, Virginia, but also visible in the shot were tabs for videos with the titles “IVONE SEXY AMATEUR” and “LAYLA RIVERA TIGHT BOOTY.”

Webb replaced the post with another saying that he was only investigating whether someone on porn sites could be trying to steal Federal Elections Commission data. (We hate it when that happens.)

“Curious by nature, I wanted to test the suggestion that somehow, lurking out in the pornographic world, there is some evil operator waiting for the one in a gazillion chance that a candidate for federal office would go to that particular website and thereby be infected with a virus that would cause his or her FEC data file to crash the FECfile application each time that it was loaded on the day of the filing deadline, as well as impact other critical campaign systems,” the second post read, per Gawker, before also being deleted.

Webb’s Facebook page now has a post that leads off with, “THANKS FOR THE TAB CHECK, RANGER BUDDIES! ‘For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.’ Psalm 100:5.” Webb goes on to thank the notoriety from the post for driving up his Facebook likes and Twitter followers.
