DC Comics had their superheroes go to war against each other. Now it’s Marvel’s turn.

With a month to go until “Captain America: Civil War” hits theaters, a sneak peek shows Captain America jumping into action with Scarlet Witch and Falcon to hunt down Hydra baddie Crossbones as the Avengers begin to break down from the inside.

Chris Evans, who is taking his fifth go-around as Captain America in this film, presented the sneak peek clip on Sunday at the MTV Movie Awards.

One year after their battle against Ultron, the Avengers have run afoul of the world’s governments after their involvement results in more collateral damage, resulting in calls for more government regulation of superheroes.

Having nearly destroyed the world by creating Ultron, Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) is all for the Avengers taking accountability. But Steve Rogers, who saw the corruption of SHIELD firsthand in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” doesn’t want politicians to hold him back from doing what he thinks is right. Soon the other heroes take side with Cap or Iron Man, leading to a massive confrontation with the future of the Avengers at stake.

“Captain America: Civil War” also stars Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, and Chadwick Boseman. Anthony and Joe Russo, the brothers who helmed “Winter Soldier,” are directing, with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely writing the screenplay.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is producing, with Victoria Alonso, Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Nate Moore, Patricia Whitcher, and Stan Lee also serving as executive producers.

“Captain America: Civil War” will debut in theaters May 6.
