‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ Pic Hits the Web (Photo)

"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" begins production, with the hero turning his back on fans

Captain America's back in more ways than one in a new look at the superhero sequel "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."

With principal photography on the movie beginning Monday, Marvel Studios has released the first image for the film, featuring Chris Evans as the titular hero with his back to the camera, his signature shield on prominent display.

This time out, the patriotic superhero teams up with Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.

The new movie also stars Samuel L. Jackson reprising his role as Nick Fury, "Gossip Girl" and "Once Upon a Time" alum Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier and Robert Redford as senior S.H.I.E.L.D. leader Alexander Pierce.

"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" is slated for an April 4, 2014 release.
