Carla Gugino has been hired to replace Christina Hendricks as the female lead of Cameron Crowe’s new Showtime pilot “Roadies,” an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.

The hour-long comedy follows a rock band on tour, though it focuses on the behind-the-scenes players. Gugino will play the band’s production manager, while Luke Wilson will play the tour manager she must work with closely.

Crowe recently rewrote the pilot, which will undergo reshoots now that Gugino has been cast and her character reconceived.

Imogen Poots, Rafe Spall, Keisha Castle-Hughes and Machine Gun Kelly co-star in the pilot, which Crowe is executive producing with J.J. Abrams and his Bad Robot partner Bryan Burk.  Winnie Holzman also serves as an executive producer, while Kathy Lingg serves as co-executive producer.

“Roadies” is produced by Bad Robot, Vinyl Films and Dooley & Company Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Gugino recently starred alongside The Rock in “San Andreas” and in M. Night Shyamalan’s limited series “Wayward Pines” with Matt Dillon. She’s represented by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.
