Casey Abrams More Worried About Tsunami Victims Than Himself

Bushy-bearded contestant kept off “American Idol” by blood transfusion to alleviate chronic condition

"American Idol" addicts may be worried about how Casey Abrams is doing after his hospitalization kept him off Thursday night's results show, but the affable singer seems more concerned about tsunami victims.

Tweeting on Friday morning, Abrams said, "Hate to see what's happening over in Japan. I feel for everyone over there who had like no warning of an 8.9 coming."

Abrams suffers from ulcerative colitis, a condition that also sent him to the hospital for tests  three weeks ago. This time, he required a blood transfusion.

No word yet on whether this latest setback will affect his involvement in the competition, but his fans will be relieved to hear that he's okay. "Hey guys, thanks for the well wishes, I got some nice fresh blood in me and feeling better. People at Idol & Cedars are treatin me real good," he tweeted.

Later, he replied to a note sent by season nine runner-up Crystal Bowersox: "My health is always first, but this is my dream, I'm going to keep fighting to stay in."

Sounds like he'll be back next Wednesday.
