CBS Sports Salivates Over Tiger Woods’ Return

After three-week absence on PGA Tour, the golfer’s back on Saturday, and it could mean big ratings

CBS Sports has to be salivating with the announcement Wednesday that Tiger Woods will be returning to the PGA Tour this weekend.

Woods have been gone three weeks due to  a neck injury, but he’ll play in this week’s "The Memorial Tournament. Presented by Morgan Stanley." The final two rounds will air Saturday and Sunday.

Woods’ presence in televised tournaments has always meant a boost in ratings — but particularly since he returned to the tour for the Masters in mid-April. CBS’ coverage of that tournament drew a total of 46.5 million people who watched all or part of the tournament during the weekend of April 10-11.

The network will televise the Memorial’s third round at 3 p.m. Saturday and its final round at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, live from Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio.

Woods will be playing a competitive field, with 13 of the top 15 players in the FedEx Cup standings scheduled to compete.
