Charlize Theron will star in the upcoming comedy “Ladies Night” for director Fred Savage and for David Ellison’s Skydance Productions, representatives for Ellison announced on Friday.
Skydance will co-finance and produce the film, adding another project to its teeming pen of upcoming releases. Three of its films will open in just the next few months: “G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation,” “Star Trek Into Darkness” and “World War Z."
Though no other financier and no distributor has signed on yet, Skydance has a deal with Paramount, which is releasing those three films.
In "Ladies Night," Theron, who last appeared in “Show White and the Huntsman” and “Prometheus," will play a woman whose boyfriend is unable to commit fully to their relationship. She plans to move to New York, but before leaving home has one last night out with her close friends. (Think “Bridesmaids” meets “The Hangover.”)

Theron will also produce the film though her Denver & Delilah production company with colleagues Beth Kono and AJ Dix, as well as Ellison and Dana Goldberg.
No other casting has been announced, but popular TV director and former child star Savage has signed on to direct from David Caspe’s script.
Savage, best known to some as the star of “The Wonder Years,” has since transitioned into directing, contributing to shows like “Modern Family” and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.”
In addition to his extensive work directing television, Savage directed the 2007 feature "Daddy Day Camp."
