Chelsea Handler Addresses CBS Talks: ‘I Would Never Be on a Regular Network’ (Video)

The “Chelsea Lately” host appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” to talk about the reports

Chelsea Handler shut down reports that she would host a late-night show on CBS.

“I would never go to CBS. I’m not, my mouth? What would they do with me there?” Handler told Ellen DeGeneres on her daytime show on Thursday.

TheWrap was the first to report that Handler was in talks with CBS for either a syndicated show or a late-night spot. Handler sparked more chatter on the report when she posted a photo on Twitter of herself sitting with her dog and shuffling through papers bearing the CBS logo and captioned “business meeting.”

During the interview with DeGeneres, Handler confirmed what her manager Irzing Azoff told TheWrap earlier this week: The flashing of the CBS logo was unintentional.

She also said, “I mean, no I would never be on a regular network. I would never do that to my fans or to myself or to the network.”

Handler went on to say that she isn’t looking to replace Stephen Colbert, who was recently tapped to replace David Letterman, on Comedy Central either.

“I don’t want to take a job that someone else had already done,” she said. “I like to jobs that no one’s ever done… I like to create my own thing and I like to be a little bit of an underdog. I’m not for everybody and that’s OK. I like my life the way it is, a little smaller than everyone else’s. I get a away with a lot of bad things and I like that.”

An individual close to Handler previously told TheWrap that Handler was looking for a weekly show instead of a daily like “Chelsea Lately” and that a Sirius XM radio show, which could be taped and viewed on a streaming site like Netflix, would be an ideal situation for Handler. Netflix has told TheWrap that it’s not in talks with Handler.

Handler plans to leave E! when her contract expires at the end of the year.
