Chelsea Handler on Why She’s the Only Woman in Late-Night (Video)

WaxWord catches up with the budding media brandster and grills her on whether women stop being funny late at night

Chelsea Handler is a busy gal. She's got her late-night talk show. She's got her books. She's got a show coming up on NBC, and she's got three more shows she'll be spinning off for people on her talk show.

Exhausting, but such is the life of a budding media brand. We caught up with her at the Fortune Powerful Women conference on Tuesday and asked why she's the only woman who gets to spout off in late night.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity," she began. Well that didn't sound like her.

She coughed it up: "I think a point of view is a very powerful thing to have, and not be worried about who's gonna be mad at you for saying what," she said.

And does she plan outrageous things to say on her show? No, she laughed. "That comes pretty easily."

The show based on her book "Are You There Vodka, It's Me Chelsea." will debut mid-season on NBC.  It's a good time to be Chelsea.
