Chris Christie Disputes Donald Trump 9/11 New Jersey Claims

Governor says billionaire is incorrect in stating that Muslims cheered in the streets after deadly terrorist attack

Chris Christie is disputing a claim by Donald Trump that Muslims in New Jersey were seen celebrating in the streets in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in 2001.

“It didn’t happen and the fact is, people can say anything but the facts are the facts and that didn’t happen in New Jersey that day and hasn’t happened since,” Christie, the governor of New Jersey, told CNN.

“It was personally emotional, and I was not focused on everything that was going on all across the state,” he continued. “What I was focused on was my wife and my brother who were in Lower Manhattan and who I hadn’t heard from for a long, long time. But definitively, I’ve said this a number of times: It didn’t happen.”

Despite law enforcement and media sources repeatedly pointing out a lack of evidence to back up his claim, Trump has been insistent that he did in fact see celebrations after 9/11.

During an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Monday, Trump blamed “ancient technology” on the lack of video evidence he claims to have seen on the day.

“Don’t forget, 14 to 15 years ago it wasn’t like it is today where you press a button and play a video,” Trump said. “14 to 15 years ago they didn’t put it in files, they destroy half the stuff.”
