The “Star Trek” star is due in court on Monday following an arrest at the beginning of the month

“Jack Ryan” star Chris Pine was charged with driving under the influence in New Zealand earlier this month while on his way back from a wrap party for his most recent film, “Z for Zachariah.”

The New Zealand Herald reports that the 33-year-old actor was stopped in the early hours of March 1 at a routine DUI checkpoint where authorities determined his blood alcohol content was over the legal limit after he blew a 0.11 in a breathalyzer.

“Z for Zachariah,” an adaptation of a 1974 novel of the same name, is a science fiction film following a 16-year-old girl who survives a Nuclear war in a small American town. Margot Robbie and Chiwetel Ejiofor co-star.

The wrap party for the film was held at held at Blue Pub in Methven, Canterbury. Pine attended with his Icelandic model girlfriend, Iris Bjork Johannesdottir. According to the bar's manager, who oversaw the event, Pine did not appear visibly intoxicated.

“You can see the photos behind the bar with our staff and he looked fine,” Crawford told the New Zealand press. “I only ever saw him drinking tap beer and his partner she was just drinking sav wine.”

Breathalyzers are horribly inaccurate. I really don't see how they can use them. Blood should be drawn every time. Don't ruin someone's life just because the police are too lazy to determine the actual blook alcohol content.
